How to donate
The International Goan Organization (IGO) of Ontario is successfully developing and delivering programs to assist the Goan community in Goa and elsewhere to realize their potential in education and socio-economic areas and meet the challenges of the new millennium.
To maintain this unique relationship with Goa, India, we rely on the generous contributions of our past, present and future friends and supporters.
Donations assist the IGO in its efforts to support current programs and future initiatives. There are two options available for donating to the IGO.
By Canada Post/Mail
A cheque or money order made out to the "International Goan Organization" may be sent to the Executive Director, International Goan Organization, 1252 Sweetbirch Court, Mississauga. Ontario, L5C 3R3, Canada. Please do not send cash through the mail.
Endowment Fund
A donation to the IGO Endowment Fund will be used to fund the services of the IGO. In this way you will:
- have the opportunity to honor the name of a loved one
IGO Endowment Fund Characteristics
- This is a capital fund which benefits the organization and programs of the International Goan Organization. Capital in the fund earns annual income to be used as an ongoing source of revenue for IGO.
- Donors can stipulate that their gift is to be held intact as capital, and the annual income designated for funding one of IGO programs. For example, donors can specify that their gift is directed to the Best of Both Worlds project.
- Donors can use a gift to the Endowment Fund to honor the name and memory of a family member or other loved one. Donors can establish a fund in the name of a loved one and specify how the funds are to be used. This is a wonderful way of paying tribute to a loved one. Memorial donations are a productive way of keeping the memory alive of those who have passed away while contributing to a worthwhile cause. Donations in honor of a loved one's special achievement are also a nice way of recognizing the occasion while creating opportunities for others. The family of those you remember or the person you honor will receive notification of your gift.
- Donors will be encouraged to consult their financial advisors - lawyer, accountant etc. when considering a gift to the Endowment Fund. These advisors can help donors maximize the tax advantages and estate planning benefits available to them through their gift to the IGO Endowment Fund.
Relationship of the Endowment Fund to IGO
The Fund provides an independent source of funds to help IGO meet its growing needs.
Through careful planning, you can identify the method for making a contribution which best suits your situation while maximizing the benefit to the International Goan Organization. We encourage you to consult your financial advisor before making a significant gift. We want your giving to be not only generous and joyful, but prudent as well.
